XLIM UMR CNRS 7252 is a center of expertise focused on electronics and microwaves, optics and photonics, mathematics, computer science and imaging, CAD, in the fields of space, telecom networks, secure environments, bioengineering, new materials, energy, and imaging.
XLIM is a multidisciplinary research institute located across several sites: in Limoges at the Faculty of Science and Technology, ENSIL-ENSCI, Ester-Technopole, on the University Campus of Brive, and in Poitiers at the Futuroscope Technopole.
XLIM brings together a team of over 440 faculty researchers, CNRS researchers, engineers, technicians, post-doctoral fellows, doctoral students, and administrative staff.

The project is part of the ANR OPV4COM (“Organic photovoltaics for sustainable indoor IoT by simultaneous energy harvesting and optical wireless data reception”) initiative, approved under the AAPG 2024 program and led by XLIM. It aims at evaluating and validating printed organic photovoltaic (OPV) devices as energy harvesters from indoor ambient light and data receivers in optical wireless communication (OWC) scenarios. This approach should enable next-generation Internet of Things (IoT) devices to operate efficiently and sustainably, addressing the challenge of limited battery capacity.

Missions:
The primary mission of the recruited post-doctoral researcher is to highlight the relationships between organic photovoltaic architectures (including the nature of the materials used at the interfaces and/or for the active layer, the structuring and design of the stacks) and their dynamic responses (bandwidth, sensitivity, etc.). Several experimental phases will be conducted to achieve this objective, first at the laboratory scale, then at the scale of larger surface components provided by our industrial partner. The recruited person will fabricate small active area OPV devices within the PLATINOM technological platform of the XLIM laboratory, and then characterize their static and especially dynamic performances using dedicated temporal or frequency techniques. In particular, impedance spectroscopy studies, including the modeling of components by relevant equivalent electrical models, will be necessary to identify the role of architectures in modulating the dynamic response of cells under modulated light excitation. These developments should refine the physical models of the components for their particular use in optical data reception, coupled with light energy harvesting.
