You will join the project entitled “Jump in with a splash: exploring long noncoding RNA import into mitochondria and its biological implications” carried out as the OPUS 2024/53/B/NZ3/03975 grant of the Polish National Science Centre. The aim of this project is to generate a comprehensive map of all lncRNAs imported into mitochondria in mouse cells. We will analyze their sequence and structural features, genomic properties, and predicted functions using advanced computational approaches. Furthermore, we will investigate how mitochondrial lncRNA profiles change under stress conditions. By studying these dynamics, we hope to uncover novel roles of lncRNAs in mitochondrial function and cellular adaptation. Additionally, the project will explore interactions between mitochondria and other RNA types, offering a broader view of intracellular communication.

I. Requirements for the candidates:

1. PhD in molecular/cellular biology, biochemistry, genetics, or related field.
2. Expertise in NGS or/and TGS (long-read sequencing), PCR and other molecular biology techniques required.
3. Experience in subcellular fractionation.
4. Experience using and maintaining mouse and tissue culture models
5. Show evidence of scientific productivity and writing skills, documented by authorship in publications.
6. Excellent interpersonal skills, initiative and ability to work independently and in a high-performance team.
7. Professional working proficiency in English.

*In accordance with the requirements of the National Science Center, only those candidates who received their PhD degree no earlier than 7 years prior to the date of employment within the research project, excluding parental or related leaves governed by the stipulations of the Labor Code, rehabilitation period associated with rehabilitation allowances or other rehabilitation benefits, are eligible for recruitment. In such cases, the aforementioned 7-year period shall be extended by additional 18 months for every descendant or adoptee. Female applicants may choose the way of justifying breaks in their research career, which is more favorable in a given case.

According to the NCN requirements, a person who has obtained a doctoral degree in an entity other than the Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry of the Polish Academy of Sciences or has completed at least 10 months of continuous and documented postdoctoral training in an entity other than the entity implementing the project and in a country other than the country in which the doctoral degree was obtained may be admitted.
