ANR funded Postdoctoral Position (2 years) at the MAPLE Project
Host: DATA team, Département d’Informatique, École Normale Supérieure (ENS), Paris
Project: Mathematical Analysis of Pattern Learning and Extraction (MAPLE)
PI: Dr. Bruno Loureiro

We invite applications from highly motivated, independent, and creative postdoctoral researchers to work on the theory of feature learning in neural networks within the ANR-funded MAPLE project, under the supervision of Dr. Bruno Loureiro. Funding is available for two years.

Responsibilities

• Conduct research on the mathematical foundations of feature learning in neural networks.
• Engage in the life of the CSD, including participating at the weekly seminars.
• Present results internally and at international venues;

Qualifications

• PhD in Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, or Theoretical Physics (at the time of appointment).
• Background in machine learning theory or in one or more of: high-dimensional probability, random matrix theory, complex systems.
• Strong communication and writing skills; ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

About the team

The DATA team develops foundational mathematical and algorithmic approaches for high-dimensional learning and generative modeling. Research interests span representation learning, statistical inference, privacy, and generative models with applications in physics, audio, vision, and neuroscience.
DATA is hosted at the interdisciplinary Centre de Sciences des Données (CSD) within the Department of Computer Science (DIENS). Team members are also actively involved in the PR[AI]RIE – Paris School of AI cluster. DATA is a joint research team between École Normale Supérieure and CNRS.
