The Cyprus Institute (CyI) is a European non-profit, Science- and Technology-oriented Educational and Research Institution, based in Cyprus and governed by an acclaimed Board of Directors. The research agenda of the CyI is pursued at its five Research Centres, namely:

1. The Computation-based Science and Technology Research Centre (CaSToRC)
2. The Science and Technology in Archaeology and Culture Research Centre (STARC)
3. The Energy Environment Water Research Centre (EEWRC)
4. The Climate and Atmosphere Research Centre (CARE-C)
5. The Science and Technology Driven Policy and Innovation Research Centre (STeDI-RC)

Considerable cross-centre interaction is a characteristic of the Institute’s scientific ethos.

The Cyprus Institute invites applications for a highly qualified and motivated Researcher to join the Institute’s CaSToRC Centre on a full-time basis (100% FTE) for its premises at Athalassas Campus.

The successful candidate will pursue Research & Development (R&D) in the areas of Machine Learning (ML) and Artificial Intelligence (AI). Focus will be placed on applications of these technologies in cybersecurity and anomaly detection in encrypted network data.

The successful candidate will join for 100% of their time the research team implementing the project DAEMON-AI: Detection and Active Elimination of Malicious anomalies through Ongoing Network, sensor, and behavioural analysis with AI.

Position Specific Responsibilities/activities:

• Research and development relevant to ML, AI and big data analytics.
• Applications of advanced technologies in cybersecurity, anomaly detection, encrypted networks, etc.
• Close collaboration with cross-functional teams, such as researchers, product managers, backend engineers, data scientists.
• Participation and leading support projects with academia/industry/public sector.
• Involvement in training and user-support events.
• Contribution to project reports and deliverables.
• Contribution to scientific publications, presentations in scientific conferences and participation in outreach events.
• Contribution to proposal writing.
