The University of Caen has been awarded the ExcellencES CaeSAR project (ANR-23-EXES-0001), funded by France 2030.

Within this framework, two 3-year research positions are available in the Centre Materials-Chemistry laboratories. It’s included one 18-month postdoctoral position and One 3-year PhD fellowship for each research position.

The research will be carried out in one of the following laboratories: CRISMAT (UMR 6508), CIMAP (UMR 6252), CARMEN (UMR 6064), or LCS (UMR 6506).

These recruitments are part of a research project.

Host Laboratory
The selected researcher will be hosted by one of the laboratories (CRISMAT UMR 6508, CIMAP UMR 6252, CARMEN UMR 6064, LCS UMR 6506), which are joint research units associated with UNICAEN, CNRS and ENSICAEN.

The Laboratory of Crystallography and Materials Science (CRISMAT): Its main areas of activity are the synthesis of new (multi)functional materials with specific electronic and thermal properties, in conjunction with their structural characterisation, thereby enabling the exploration of their structure-property relationships. The laboratory offers a unique environment at the national and international level for developing projects that bring together chemists and physicists, paving the way for new functionalities and addressing major societal challenges related to sustainable development, energy transition and digital technology.

The Centre for Research on Ions, Materials and Photonics (CIMAP) is a research laboratory that focuses on two major themes: excited matter and defects on the one hand, and materials and optics on the other. CIMAP brings together a wide range of disciplines thanks to its long tradition of structuring physics research in Lower Normandy and at the national level. The research topics addressed within the laboratory are varied, ranging from the modification of matter in the gas or condensed phase by ion irradiation, to materials such as crystals for lasers, semiconductors and thin films used for light emission and conversion. CIMAP's ambition is to leverage its multidisciplinary approach to enrich the use of different tools and promote the laboratory's scientific culture, in order to continually push the boundaries of knowledge in these fields.

The Institute of Analytical Chemistry and Molecular Reactivity in Normandy (CARMEN) aims to develop innovative methods in organic synthesis, analytical chemistry and molecular modelling and apply them to various sub-fields of the discipline (bioorganic chemistry, pharmaceutical chemistry, eco-friendly chemistry, materials chemistry).

The Catalysis and Spectroscopy Laboratory (LCS) is renowned for its research into porous materials, with particular expertise in the design and preparation of microporous materials such as zeolites, and the study of porous materials using operando spectroscopy. LCS thus occupies a unique position in the study and optimisation of catalytic or adsorption processes, with multiple applications in the fields of materials for energy conversion and pollution control.
