At the moment, IMol is looking for a candidate for the position of Postdoctoral Researcher in Warsaw, Poland, for the implementation of the project Sonata Bis 12 financed by the National Science Center.

Project title: “Bunyaviral strategies to reorganize and exploit cellular translation”

Short description of the project:

We are interested in studying how bunyaviruses, segmented negative-strand RNA viruses, reorganize and exploit cellular translation during infection. We want to identify which host factors are hijacked by viruses for their non-canonical translation strategies and to determine structures and function of the involved virus-host protein complexes. Our ambition is to open new avenues in the RNA virus field and to set the basis for the broad-spectrum antivirals design.

Key responsibilities of the successful candidate will be to study dynamics of the proteome and transcriptome in the bunyaviral infection context, and/or to study localization, composition and structural re-organization of the cellular translation machinery producing viral proteins. We particularly encourage candidates with a strong background in human cell culture assays and in vivo experiments to apply. Prior expertise in RNA virus infection biology, bioinformatical analysis of proteomic and transcriptomic data, and/or cryo-EM/ET will be considered a strong asset.

Profile of candidates/requirements:

- PhD degree in molecular biology, biophysics, biochemistry or related fields of life sciences. PhD degree obtained not earlier than 2018 (this is a grant requirement – this period can be increased by documented health or maternity-related leaves),

- Good scholarship and hands-on experience in molecular and cell biology,

- Experience in RNA virus infection biology projects would be an advantage,

- Experience in computational biology and handling of the proteomic and RNAseq datasets,

- Experience in confocal microscopy and/or cryo-EM/ET would be an advantage,

- Very good command of English as well as team-work and communication skills.
