We are looking for a PhD (FC1) with a highly technical and bioinformatic profile to join, immediately, the Momentum MMT24-CIB-01 project, financed by the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan through the European Union's Next Generation funds.

The purpose of this contract is to recruit personnel specialised in digital techniques. The successful candidates will be able to implement advanced digital skills, visualise, and interpret data obtained from the analysis of samples from different users of the Proteomics and Genomics Unit (UPG) at the CIB Margarita Salas.

Contract details:

Duration: ~3 years

Annual salary: ~52,000€

Mandatory training plan: Complete the 240 ECTS initially planned in the program of activities (requires commitment to completing the documentation in the manner and within the deadlines established by the Momentum team).

Essential requirements:

PhD in Microbiology and Parasitology, Bioinformatics, or Information and Communication Technologies (Master’s degree, training courses).

Programming experience: Phyton and R.

Desirable requirements:

Master’s degree and specialization courses in bioinformatics

Experience in proteomics techniques

Knowledge of statistical analysis

Use of free and licensed software for proteomic data analysis (Maxquant, Perseus, DIA-NN, Skyline, ProteomeDiscover, Spectronaut, etc)

Publications in the field of proteomic analysis

Experience in teaching or mentoring students, dissemination, and outreach

Proficiency in English

Main tasks to be performed:

The successful candidate will join the UPG and provide scientific and analytical support to users of the CIB Margarita Salas facility.

The project has on three main objectives:

1) Adapting mass data processing technologies to the UPG

2) Extension of data analysis and integration

3) Implementation of tools and methods within the framework of computational biology.

Over the next three years, the new recruit will complete the initial 240 ECTS of the training programme. This will involve completing national and international courses, undertaking placements in external departments and companies, and managing technical reports for users, as well as maintaining databases and other bioinformatic tools.

The position requires the ability to work independently, essential documentary accuracy, and a commitment to meeting the administrative and technical deadlines established by the Momentum programme.
