We are looking for a Ph.D. who will work in the NCN OPUS project “Development and characterization of novel multitargeted organometallic tubulin polymerization inhibitors for enhancing the effectiveness of anticancer therapies

• • The candidate must hold a doctoral degree in the field of chemical or biological sciences, obtained within the last 7 years counting back from 01.01.2026.
• - This period may be extended by documented long-term sickness/rehabilitation benefits (over 90 days), childcare leaves, or (for women) 18 months per child born/adopted if more favorable.
• - Mandatory requirement: The doctoral degree must have been obtained at an institution other than the University of Łódź.
• • The candidate must have experience in experimental biology, in particular in:
• - experience in maintaining cell cultures, predominantly of stable cell lines
• - experience in designing experiments and interpreting results obtained using flow cytometry
• - experience in designing and performing cellular functional assays (antiproliferative activity, viability, apoptosis detection, cell cycle analysis)
• - experience in performing basic biochemical analyses
• - experience in the analysis of biological data (cellular assays, in vitro and/or in vivo experiments)
• • Good command of spoken and written English for scientific communication and publication preparation.
• • Experience must be documented by scientific publications (copies/links must be attached).
• • Documented experience in presenting research results (lectures and oral conference presentations).
• • [Assets/Preferred]: Experience in SAR studies, organic/organometallic substituents impact assessment, 3D cell culture models (spheroids/organoids), or in vivo studies.

Scope of tasks in the project

• • Planning and carrying out screening studies of antiproliferative activity to determine structure–activity relationships (SAR).
• • Analysing the effect of organic/organometallic groups on biological activity in in vitro models (cancer and normal cell lines).
• • Conducting activity studies in 3D cell culture models (spheroids/organoids), including optimization of conditions.
• • Participation in planning and implementation of in vivo studies in cooperation with the animal model team.
• • Processing and critical analysis of results (statistical and graphical presentation) and interpretation.
• • Preparation of manuscripts of scientific publications, conference presentations, and reports on the implementation of project tasks, as well as active cooperation with the chemistry and biology teams participating in the project.
