UiT The Arctic University of Norway has established «The Arctic MSCA-PF program» (uit.no/arcticmsca) to recruit excellent young researchers planning to apply for a Marie Skƚodowska-Curie Postdoctoral Fellowship (MSCA-PF) to pursue a career in research. We invite applications from promising young researchers within the field of Geosciences - Cold seeps and Gas Hydrates. The selected candidate will write a proposal for a 24-month MSCA-PF at UiT together with Researcher Claudio Argentino as supervisor. This is an opportunity to accelerate your research career while living in the urban research city of Tromsø.

This call is one of 33 from pre-selected supervisors at UiT The Arctic University of Norway through the “Arctic MSCA-PF program”. Successful postdoc candidates will be invited for a two-day MSCA-PF symposium June 10-11, 2026 (hybrid physical/digital event, see details at https://uit.no/arcticmsca/programstructure). At this event, the candidates will present their past research achievements, discuss future plans with their potential supervisor and learn how to write a successful MSCA-PF application. The selected candidates will, jointly with the supervisor, write the MSCA-PF application by the deadline of September 9, 2026.

In this call, we are looking for talented, young researchers within the field of Geosciences with an interest in Cold seeps and Gas Hydrates, as described by dr. Argentino:

Biogeochemical processes occurring in the sediments at cold seeps and gas hydrate-bearing regions play a crucial role in regulating the flux of greenhouse gases into the ocean and atmosphere. In our research group, we study sediment biogeochemistry and benthic ecosystems in extreme environments dominated by methane and/or crude oil seepage. Using a multidisciplinary and multiproxy approach, we aim to gain deeper insights into the processes and communities influenced by seeps, as well as their responses to climate-driven perturbations.
