OPUS 24, K/NCN/000210: “Molecular characterization of the human MOCS3 thiolation pathway”

Program / Project description

The selected Candidate (F/M) will work on an ongoing NCN-funded project to investigate the specific cellular pathways that are needed to incorporate sulfur atoms into tRNAs.

In the proposed project we will shed light on the specific molecular similarities as well as differences between two sulfur carrier proteins and their common activator. We will purify the proteins and perform their molecular characteristics. Using in vitro transcribed tRNAs and purified proteins we will test their activities in the test tube. We will use structural biology methods to take structural snapshots of the proteins and protein ‒ tRNA complexes during the reactions to understand their function.
