Chief Research Specialist POST-DOC (F/M)
Łukasiewicz Research Network - Krakow Institute of Technology announces a competition for a Chief Research Specialist POST-DOC position in the NCN SONATA-19 project (2023/51/D/NZ7/02596) titled "One Step to Game Changer": Combined Antimicrobial Therapy Based on AI and Nanotechnology to Combat Challenging Diabetes Foot Infections. The project is being carried out by the Łukasiewicz Research Network – Krakow Institute of Technology (Project Leader: Dr. Barbara Pucelik) in consortium with Sano - Centre for Computational Personalized Medicine.
Tasks:
The person employed as a Chief Research Specialist POST-DOC will be involved in project work in nanotechnology, materials chemistry and the development of nanoformulations with potential antimicrobial applications. The appointment is planned for 7 months. The main responsibilities will include:
- • designing, synthesising and developing incorporation matrices for the encapsulation of biologically active substances;
- • developing methods for incorporating antibiotics, adjuvants and other compounds that support antimicrobial activity;
- • synthesising polymeric nanocores and developing final nanoformulations with antimicrobial activity;
- • optimising the synthesis conditions, composition and properties of the obtained nanomaterials;
- • performing physicochemical characterisation of the obtained nanomaterials using spectroscopic, chromatographic and microscopic methods;
- • conducting analyses using techniques such as UV-Vis spectroscopy, FT-IR/Raman spectroscopy, high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), dynamic light scattering (DLS) and zeta-potential measurements by laser Doppler velocimetry (LDV);
- • participating in the morphological characterisation of nanomaterials using scanning and transmission electron microscopy (SEM and TEM);
- • investigating the release kinetics of active substances from nanoparticles under conditions simulating the target environment;
- • conducting drug-release analyses and studies of other biologically active compounds under biological conditions;
- • analysing the surface properties of nanomaterials and their effects on stability, active-substance release and interactions with biological systems;
- • assessing the physicochemical properties of biologically active substances and their potential interactions with selected molecular targets;
- • processing, analysing and interpreting experimental results;
- • maintaining laboratory records and preparing reports describing the syntheses performed, the characterisation of the materials obtained and the research results;
- • collaborating with members of an interdisciplinary research team and contributing to scientific publications, presentations and project reports.
Conditions of employment:
- full-time employment under an employment contract for a period of 7 months;
- remuneration in accordance with the NCN rate for this position, i.e. PLN 140,000 per year as the total employer cost (gross-gross);

Employment will be carried out in accordance with NCN regulations. In particular, the person employed must jointly meet the following conditions:
- the Principal Investigator was not the supervisor or assistant supervisor of the candidate’s doctoral dissertation;
- while receiving this remuneration, the candidate will not receive any other remuneration from funds awarded as direct costs of research projects financed under NCN calls;
- while receiving this remuneration, the candidate will not be employed by another employer under an employment contract, including an employer based outside Poland;
- while receiving this remuneration, the candidate will not receive pension benefits from the social security system
