The Faculty of Medicine of Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg, in close collaboration with the University Hospital Magdeburg, is a leading center for translational biomedical research in Germany. Major research priorities include Immunology, Cell and Immunotherapy, and Neurosciences.

We are seeking an outstanding and highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher to join our internationally active research program in immune metabolism, hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, and next-generation cellular immunotherapies.

Our group combines cutting-edge basic immunology with investigator-initiated clinical trials in allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation and CAR-T cell therapy. Through close integration of laboratory and clinical research, we aim to translate mechanistic discoveries into innovative immunotherapeutic strategies for patients with hematological malignancies and immune-mediated diseases.

Our research has been published in leading international journals including The Lancet, The Lancet Neurology, Blood, Journal of Hepatology, and Journal of Hematology and Oncology. We are looking for ambitious scientists who aspire to perform research at the highest international level and pursue an academic career.

The successful candidate will become part of the Magdeburg Center for Cell and Immune Therapy (MAzI), an interdisciplinary research platform integrating basic science, translational immunology, GMP manufacturing, and investigator-initiated clinical trials in cellular immunotherapy.

Research Project

The position is embedded within the Collaborative Research Center/Transregio SFB/TRR 221 and focuses on mechanisms of immune regulation and tolerance following allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, with translational extensions toward antigen-specific cellular therapies such as CAR-T cells.

A particular emphasis is placed on understanding how metabolic programming regulates T-cell fitness, persistence, and exhaustion and how these pathways can be therapeutically targeted to improve transplantation outcomes and next-generation cellular immunotherapies.

We Offer

  • • an internationally visible translational research program
  • • participation in innovative, high-impact research projects
  • • close interaction with clinician scientists and access to unique patient cohorts
  • • state-of-the-art technologies-
