The HP2 laboratory is looking for a post-doctoral student in biostatistics to ensure the implementation and valorization of data analyzes from the ANR STRATA project (Sleep apnea trajectories deciphered by innovative multidimensional data analyses)

Obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSAS) is one of the most common chronic diseases, affecting nearly one billion people worldwide. The estimated prevalence of moderate-to-severe OSAS in adults aged 30–69 years is 22.7% in Europe and 36.3% in France. The economic burden of OSAS is comparable to, or even higher than, that of other major chronic diseases. Although OSAS has a direct impact on patient quality of life and outcomes due to its association with the development and/or worsening of cardiometabolic comorbidities and is associated with early mortality, the disease remains underdiagnosed, undertreated, and largely underestimated in terms of health policies.

The long-term prognosis of individuals with OSAS is linked to adherence to the recommended first-line treatment, continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP), which opens and stabilizes the upper airway during sleep. CPAP is highly effective in improving patient-reported outcomes (PROMs) such as daytime sleepiness and quality of life and reduces cardiovascular risk in adherent patients. Currently, 1.8 million people with OSA are treated with CPAP in France. However, despite the benefits of regular CPAP use, an SNDS analysis showed that up to 50% of patients discontinue CPAP therapy within the first three years after treatment initiation. The objective of the project is to develop multidimensional approaches based on observational data collected in clinics at the time of diagnosis and during follow-up of patients under CPAP by telemonitoring to predict the level of patient adherence to CPAP therapy at the time of diagnosis, and in the short, medium, and long term after treatment initiation.

This project is carried out in partnership with a home care provider, Agir à Dom.

The researcher will use statistical analysis models on longitudinal data to develop dynamic prediction models for CPAP adherence, taking into account all available data and aiming to validate them with external data. This work is part of the STRATA project, in collaboration with a doctoral student and a research engineer. The successful candidate will be responsible for the scientific dissemination of the research activities in the form of scientific publications or conference presentations. Within this project, the researcher's responsibilities will be to: Carry out and organize scientific monitoring on the research topic Participate in data management Develop statistical approaches adapted to the data and the questions posed Participate in meetings organized within the framework of the project Scientifically promote the results, both orally and in writing (scientific publications and presentations at national and international conferences and symposia) Your profile:

Proficiency in statistical methods for analyzing multidimensional longitudinal data Fluency in English Writing skills (scientific articles) and communication skills (presentations, posters) Data analysis and results visualization skills Proficiency in statistical software (R, Python) Ability to plan actions, meet and enforce deadlines, and manage contingencies Autonomy, scientific rigor, and organizational skills Excellent Interpersonal skills Curiosity, a passion for research Interpersonal skills and teamwork Experience in developing statistical methods or applying longitudinal data analysis methods in medical research. PhD in biostatistics or other related disciplines (epidemiology or public health)

Our team: The laboratory is composed of 45 tenured researchers, and the project will be carried out within a team dedicated to methodological research on observational data, organized into three areas and composed of seven researchers.
