Copenhagen Business School (CBS) invites applications for two 3-year postdoctoral positions in Governance of Corporate Responsibility, located at the Department of Management, Society and Communication (MSC).
The selected candidates will contribute to the research project D-CORE
The Dark Side of Corporate Responsibility: Content Moderation as Emotional Dirty Work in the Digital Age
The positions are hosted at the new CBS Sustainable Governance Lab at MSC and the preferred start dates are September 2025 and February 2026.
Overall Project Focus
The D-CORE project investigates emotional and governance challenges linked to content moderation within online platform companies such as YouTube, Meta, and X. It has two objectives: one, to understand how content moderation presents itself as dirty work while intersecting with CSR frameworks.And two, it seeks to study governance modalities of platform organizations with a view to enable human-centred oversight.
As part of D-CORE, two Postdocs will be hired and they will contribute to the following activities related to their chosen research objectives described above:
- Conduct literature reviews for publication in top-tier academic outlets
- Lead and participate in field research (through surveys, interviews, observations, ethnography)
- Conduct qualitative and quantitative empirical analyses. Experience in coding is required.
- Collaborate on presenting, writing and publishing academic papers
- Engage with project partners and relevant stakeholders
- Assist with orgnnizing research workshops, seminars and events
- Engage in public outreach activities (e.g., blog posts, LinkedIn accounts, policy briefs)
Qualifications
The applicant must hold a PhD or the equivalent. In assessing applications, particular emphasis will be placed on research potential.
The Postdoc positions are non-tenured positions for a 3-year period with research obligation. No teaching obligations.
To fulfill the research requirements of the position, the applicant chosen is expected to be physically present on a regular basis and actively participate in the teaching and research activities of the Department.
Emphasis is placed on research relevant to the job description.
Applicants should have:
- A PhD in social sciences (e.g., management, sociology, CSR, communication, technology and ethics)
- Experience with qualitative fieldwork, especially in sensitive environments
- Knowledge of literature on dirty work, social evaluation, stigma, and CSR
- Experience with research dissemination
- High-level English Language proficiency
- Willingness to reside in Denmark and engage regularly with the CBS research community
- Experience or/and networks within Technology and Platform companies will be a valued asset
The Department
The Department of Management, Society and Communication (MSC) brings together scholars from a range of research areas within management, communication and the broader social sciences and humanities, studying organizations in global environments and the interaction and interdependencies of business, society and government. Appointment and salary will be in accordance with the Ministry of Finance’s agreement with the Central Academic Organisation.

- Evidence of original, international-level research
- Transcript(s) and all academic diplomas
- Full, updated CV noting all publications

Recruitment procedure
The Recruitment Committee will shortlist minimum two applicants; when possible five or more applicants will be shortlisted. The shortlisted applicants will be assessed by the Assessment Committee. All applicants will be notified of their status in the recruitment process shortly after the application deadline.
The applicants selected for assessment will be notified about the composition of the Assessment Committee and later in the process about the result of the assessment.
Once the recruitment process is completed each applicant will be notified of the outcome of their application.
