Dans le cadre de la Chaire de Professeur Junior (CPJ 2024-2028) Minority Studies (LinCSUNISTRA),
une équipe pluridisciplinaire est mise en place afin de mener une recherche action
participative. A ce stade, cette recherche se présente comme une histoire croisée de l'animisme et
de la psychiatrie en Europe et notamment en France. Un des axes de cette recherche s’intéresse
aux manifestations de l'animisme dans l'histoire européenne/occidentale et plus largement aux
savoirs ancestraux développés et mobilisés localement. Les savoirs ancestraux désignent
l’ensemble des connaissances, pratiques, croyances, techniques et visions du monde élaborées
par des communautés en interaction avec leur environnement. Ils sont transmis de génération en
génération, principalement par la parole, la pratique, le rite et relèvent d’une dimension sacrée.
La personne recrutée en tant que postdoctorant.e mènera un travail de recherche-action personnel
dans le cadre de cet axe et en lien avec les thématiques de santé mentale et de savoirs ancestraux
développées au sein de la CPJ.

3. Activités
➢ Description des activités de recherche :
La recherche action participative vise à produire des connaissances scientifiques en s’engageant
dans des actions qui participent à la transformation sociale. Dans cette optique et afin de
compléter la dimension sociohistorique et anthropologique déjà mobilisée (axe 2 et 3), la
personne recrutée sera chargée de :
• Développer une recherche historique, historiographique ou philosophique sur les savoirs
ancestraux. La recherche portera sur les savoirs ancestraux propres au territoire français et
plus largement européen et occidental.
• Inclure et développer un volet action à sa proposition de recherche
➢ Activités associées :
• Valoriser les résultats de cette recherche à travers des communications et publications
scientifiques
• Participer à la co-construction d’un corpus pédagogique relevant des humanités féministes,
décoloniales et écologiques
• Participer à l’animation de la Chaire à travers l’organisation d’un séminaire et d’un
colloque international

5. Environnement et contexte de travail

➢ Présentation de la composante / unité de recherche :
Fondé le 1er janvier 2022, le Laboratoire interdisciplinaire en études culturelles – UMR 7069
LinCS – s’est donné pour mission de développer les études culturelles en France. Les trois piliers
sur lesquels s’appuie l’interdisciplinarité du LinCS sont l’anthropologie sociale et culturelle, la
sociologie et l’histoire contemporaine. Conçue dans un dialogue constant avec l’actualité
internationale de la recherche, cette interdisciplinarité est mobilisée autour de trois thématiquesclés
: incarner (les études du corps et de la santé), altériser (« l’autre », tel qu’il est conçu selon
les sociétés, les cultures ou les époques) et dévier (l’étude des transgressions, des rapports aux
normes ou aux lois).
➢ Relation hiérarchique :
La personne recrutée sera rattachée au laboratoire LinCS et mènera ses activités sous la
responsabilité de Rachida Brahim, titulaire de la Chaire de Professeur Junior (CPJ) Minority
Studies.

Research project or operation
A Chair dedicated to Minorities Studies has been opened at the University of Strasbourg for the
period 2024-2028 (Chaire de Professeur Junior, LinCS-UNISTRA). A multidisciplinary team is
set up to conduct participatory action research. At this stage, this research is a cross-history of
animism and psychiatry in Europe, and particularly in France. One of the research objectives is
to highlight the manifestations of animism in European/Western history, focusing on ancestral
knowledge developed and mobilized locally within a therapeutic and spiritual framework.
Ancestral knowledge refers to the body of knowledge, practices, beliefs, techniques and
worldviews developed by communities in interaction with their environment. They are passed
down from generation to generation, mainly by word, practice and ritual, and have a sacred
dimension. The postdoctoral fellow will carry out a personal action research in connection with
this research objectif and the themes of mental health and ancestral knowledge developed within
the Chair.

Activities
➢ Description of the research activities :
Action research aims to produce scientific knowledge by engaging in actions that contribute to
social transformation. With this in mind, and in order to complete the socio-historical and
anthropological approach already present (axe 2 & 3), the post-doctoral fellow will :
- Develop historical, historiographical or philosophical research on ancestral knowledge. The
research will focus on ancestral knowledge specific to France and, more broadly, to Europe
and the West.
- Include and develop an action within the research proposal

- Promotion of the research results through scientific communications and publications
- Co-construction of a pedagogical corpus relating to feminist, decolonial and ecological

- Co-animation of the Chair through the organization of a seminar and an international

Founded on January 2022, the Laboratoire interdisciplinaire en études culturelles - UMR 7069
LinCS - has set itself the mission of developing Cultural Studies in France. The three pillars of
LinCS's interdisciplinary approach are social and cultural anthropology, sociology and
contemporary history. Conceived in constant dialogue with current international research, this
interdisciplinarity is mobilized around three key themes: embodying (studies of the body and
health), altering (the “other”, as conceived according to societies, cultures or eras) and deviating
(the study of transgressions, relationships to norms or laws).
