A postdoctoral position in cancer biology is available starting in November 2025 in Borg/Maina group at the CRCM. The initial appointment will be made for 6 months, with potential to be extended, subject to satisfactory performance and funding.

We are seeking a highly motivated candidate, who will support a multidisciplinary project on signalling vulnerabilities in liver cancer and strategies to target cancer vulnerabilities with onco- immuno- therapies. The main tasks will be:

• Analyse through bioinformatics patient -omics data to search altered signalling circuits and to validate their relevance across patient subgroups.
• 
  
• Biologically assess effectiveness of targeting candidate signalling circuits using 2D, 3D, and in vivo models.
• 
  
• Uncover mechanisms of action through biochemistry and -omics approaches.

The candidates should:

• Hold a PhD degree in biology or related subjects;
• Have experience on cancer, mouse models, mouse colony handing, molecular mechanisms, FAC analysis, biochemistry;
• Have a very good experience in cell culture of mammalian cell lines, histological and immunostaining techniques;
• Be familiar with molecular biology techniques and bioinformatics;
• Be able to design and carry out a variety of experiments, as well as to analyse and synthetize the raw experimental results, with a good level of independency;
• Be fluent in English, as it is the working language;
• Possess a very good organisational and communication capability.

Within our team and in collaboration with CRCM platforms, the recruited postdoc will be able to acquire skills in sophisticated cancer mouse models, conventional and advanced microscopy, image analysis, tumoroids.
