Specific Requirements

Admission Requirements:

• a) PhD in Sociology or STS (Science and Technology Studies) or Communication, or in another related field deemed appropriate for the competition by the selection committee;
• b) Experience in quantitative and qualitative research methodologies;
• c) Fluency in spoken and written English.

If the academic degree was awarded by a foreign higher education institution, it must be formally recognized by a Portuguese higher education institution, in accordance with Article 25 of Decree-Law No. 66/2018 of 16 August, which establishes the legal framework for the recognition of academic degrees and higher education diplomas awarded by foreign higher education institutions, and with point (e) of paragraph 2 of Article 4 of Decree-Law No. 60/2018 of 3 August. All formalities set forth therein must be completed by the date of the act of appointment.

Preferred factors:

• • Research experience relevant to the project;
• • Knowledge and experience in quantitative and statistical analyses, preferably in comparative studies, using software such as SPSS and/or R;
• • Experience in qualitative analysis using software such as NVivo and/or MAXQDA;
• • A high level of independence and autonomy;
• • Good command of Excel, Word, and PowerPoint;
• • Publications (authorship or co-authorship) of scientific articles;
• • Experience and training in Science Communication may be considered an asset, but are not an essential requirement.
