announces an open competition for the position of Assistant Professor – POST DOC (F/M/Other)

in the group of research staff within the project entitled:
“Entomopathogenic filamentous fungi: a source of progesterone 11-hydroxylase for sustainable and environmentally friendly synthesis of hydroxysteroids”

at the Department of Food Chemistry and Biocatalysis

Job Description:

• • Tasks specified in the project funding the position:

1. 1. modular cloning of hydroxylases and CPR genes in Escherichia coli,
2. 2. expression of P450 and CPR in Saccharomyces cerevisiae,
3. 3. optimization of expression conditions, including N-terminus modification and chaperone co-expression,
4. 4. purification of P450 and CPR proteins,
5. 5. reconstitution of P450 and CPR in phospholipids,
6. 6. determination of kinetic parameters,
7. 7. analysis and interpretation of obtained results,
8. 8. preparation of manuscripts for publication and presentation of results at international conferences,
9. 9. supervision of students working in the project;

• • conducting research activity in the fields of biological sciences and biotechnology, including obtaining external funding for research projects;
• • dissemination of research results in the form of scientific publications in journals indexed in SCOPUS or Web of Science;
• • participation in scientific conferences/symposia (domestic and international);
• • participation in workshops and training courses improving professional competences;
• • participation in organizational work for the department and the university;
• • other tasks assigned by the head of the unit, resulting from the profile and nature of the department and the university.

Requirements for Candidates:

• • holds at least a PhD degree in biotechnology, biological sciences, chemical sciences, pharmaceutical sciences, or related fields, obtained before the employment start date and within the last 12 years prior to January 1 of the employment year (extensions possible in justified cases such as sick leave or maternity leave);
• • has English proficiency at a minimum B2 level;
• • project-specific requirements:

1. 1. documented experience in protein expression and characterization, preferably cytochrome P450 enzymes (P450), confirmed by scientific publications,
2. 2. specialist knowledge in molecular cloning, gene expression, and protein purification techniques,
3. 3. experience with modular cloning systems and heterologous expression in Escherichia coli or Saccharomyces cerevisiae,
4. 4. interest in basic scientific research,
5. 5. documented publication record in peer-reviewed journals indexed in SCOPUS or Web of Science,
6. 6. ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and supervise MSc and BSc students;

• • meets the criteria specified in Article 113 of the Act of 20 July 2018 — Law on Higher Education and Science:
• • enjoys full public rights,
• • has full legal capacity,
• • has not been convicted by a final judgment for an intentional crime or intentional fiscal offense,
• • has not been disciplined by dismissal from a university with a ban on employment at universities for 6 months to 5 years or deprivation of the right to work as an academic teacher for 10 years.

Preferred:

• • knowledge of the Polish language will be an additional advantage.

We offer:

• • full-time employment;
• • the post-doc salary may amount to a maximum of PLN 11 666.66 gross gross (total employer’s gross employment cost), including all salary components, such as additional annual remuneration and/or other components due to the employee according to university regulations;
• • planned employment period: 12 months (April 2026 – March 2027), with a possibility of extension until 30 September 2028;
• • scientifically attractive working environment;
• • work in a team with good experimental facilities and modern research topics allowing development of professional competences and international contacts.
