About the lab

 Molecular Entomology Lab in IMBB-FORTH has a main interest to study and understand the mechanisms by which disease vectors and agricultural pests develop resistance to insecticides, as well as explore novel insecticide targets and biotechnology based approaches to control insects. 

Job Description: 

The successful applicant must be a Biologist who will be part of the insecticide resistance group and he/she will mainly work on resistant mechanisms in Spodoptera frugiperda. They should also be adaptable and able to work with a range of people in a multicultural environment. Excellent knowledge of English is required

Required qualifications: 

• • BSc in Biology/Biochemistry/Biotechnology
• • PhD in Biology/Entomology
• • Oral and written skills in English language
• • More than 3 years’ research experience in resistance mechanisms in Spodoptera frugiperda strains 

Desired qualifications: 

• • Working experience in Green Synthesis and characterization of nanoparticles
• • Working experience in bioinformatics data analysis with different genomic and transcriptomic tools
• • Working experience in insecticide resistance
• • Working experience in plant defensive compounds and their impact on insects
