- work environment: The Charles Gerhardt Institute of Montpellier (ICGM, UMR 5253) is one of the four institutes of the Balard Chemistry Cluster. The Department of Materials Chemistry, Nanostructures, and Materials for Energy brings together around 70 researchers, faculty members, PhD students, postdoctoral researchers, and contract staff. Their research focuses on materials and their mechanisms of action for energy applications, with expertise in materials chemistry and physico-chemistry, interface science, and solid-state chemistry. 

The recruited researcher will join the 'Energy Conversion' group, working in connection with ongoing activities on core materials for fuel cells and electrolyzers, within the framework of the CHIMENE project.

- main mission: Preparation and study of novel non-noble metal electrocatalysts for the oxygen evolution reaction (OER), with a focus on activity and long-term durability. The researcher will also contribute to the development and characterization of electrodes and membrane electrode assemblies (MEA) for proton exchange membrane electrolysis.

- activities: 

•             Synthesis of non-noble metal-based catalysts (e.g., doped metal oxide nanoparticles)

•              Physico-chemical and electrochemical characterization of nanocatalysts

•              Preparation of electrodes incorporating the catalysts

•              Characterization of electrodes and MEAs using in situ analytical and electrochemical techniques

The net monthly salary is between €2,200 and €2,380

The contract duration is 15 months
