The competition is open to persons who meet the conditions set out in Article 113 of the Act of 20 July 2018 - Law on higher education and science (Journal of Laws of 2018, item 1668) and the following qualification criteria:

1. Required: a doctorate in physics, chemistry or a closely related field

2. Required: publication record in atomic/molecular physics 

3. Required: experience in theoretical AMO physics 

4. Required: experience in numerical methods and programming 

5. Required: good English (both spoken and written)

6. Teamwork skills and strong motivation for research work


We offer employment at a postdoc position in a research grant financed by the European Research Council Executive Agency (ERCEA) within ERC Starting Grants competition.

In this project, we propose a completely new approach for H2 spectroscopy. For the first time, we will trap a cold sample of H2. We will consider two approaches: superconducting magnetic trap and ultrahigh-power optical dipole trap (with trap depths of the order of 1 mK). T = 5 K will be achieved with a standard refrigeration technique, and the trap will be filled in situ with the 5 K thermal distribution of the H2 sample. We will do infrared-ultraviolet double resonance H2 spectroscopy referenced to the optical frequency comb and primary frequency standard.


Key responsibilities include: 

1) The post-doc will contribute to the theoretical part of the project

2) The post-doc will work on the simulations of H2 ensemble evolution during trap filling, inside the magnetic trap, and inside the optical dipole trap.

3) The post-doc will work on the quantum calculations of the molecular properties relevant for the planned experiment (energy shifts due to electric and magnetic fields, collisional effects, transition strengths, etc.). 

4) The post-doc will also support and coordinate the work of the MSc students and PhD students.
