CALL FOR PRE-APPLICATIONS FOR MSCA POSTDOCTORAL FELLOWSHIP

We are looking for candidates to apply for MSCA postdoctoral fellowships at the M² group, department of Inorganic Chemistry, Faculty of Natural Sciences, Comenius University Bratislava, Slovakia. The project proposal should be focused on the fundamental understanding of AOP water treatment mechanisms based on innovative nanomaterials for the removal of contaminants of emerging concerns. Also an emphasis on the potential impacts in sustainability and water reuse in the frame of the circular economy is required. So if you want to boost your scientific carreer and also to promote the research about the protection of the water resource, this opportunity is for you!

Your pre-application should contain:

• • your proposal: abstract + 5 structured pages of your project
• • your CV.

You are requested to prepare these two documents according to the Guide for Applicants (along with templates) for MSCA PF i.e., your proposal should contained a shorter version of the Excellence and Impact sections of the B1 part (and your CV should also the structure of part B2). You have to send your pre-application to olivier.monfort@uniba.sk by May 22nd 2026 (23h59). Incomplete pre-applications will not be considered.

Further requirements:

• • The candidate should be scientifically independent in the design of experimental methodology and in the production of scientific publications.
• • The candidate should have an excellent background in Materials Chemistry, Photochemistry and/or Chemical reactivity of radical/non-radical species related to the treatment of water.

Selection of the candidates:

The best candidates will be interviewed online by the scientist-in-charge (Olivier Monfort) between May 25th and June 5th, and the selected candidate that the scientist-in-charge will support for MSCA PF will be notified by June 12th 2026.

Note: the official deadline for MSCA PF application is September 9th 2026.

About the host institution:

Comenius University Bratislava is the oldest and the biggest university in Slovakia, but also the best Slovak university based on the different international rankings. Olivier Monfort is an associate professor, the group leader of the M² group and the Head of the Department of Inorganic Chemistry. The M² group is composed of two laboratories: materials innovation and advances (MIA) and mechanisms and reactivities in remediation processes (MR2P). The M² group is focused on the preparation/characterization of nanomaterials based on transition metal oxides along with their fundamental studies for environmental applications, especially wastewaters treatment. These fundamental studies involve the elucidation of (i) the activation mechanism of radical precrusors, (ii) the degradation mechanism of organic/inorganic pollutants, and (iii) of the correlation between properties and efficiencies of nanomaterials.
